Birla Cellulose, part of the Aditya Birla Group and one of the largest global manmade cellulosic fibre (MMCF) producer, has emerged as the winner at the first edition of the “National Innovative and Sustainable Supply Chain Awards” organized by UN Global Compact Network India.
These Awards, open to Businesses both in the Private and Public Sectors, had a sharp focus on Innovative and Sustainable Supply Chain Practices and their alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 10 UNGC Principles.
This unique initiative was supported by FM Logistic India, ICCo and BIMTECH. Accenture was the Knowledge Partner.
An overwhelming response was received from organizations pan India for the National Awards. After the first round of Jury shortlisting, the following top 7 teams were chosen to compete in the Virtual Grand Finale held on 9th April 2021: Ford, DCM Shriram, HUL, Aditya Birla Group, IOCL, HZL, and Tata Motors.

Top 3 position winners were: 1. Aditya Birla Group, 2. HUL and, 3. Ford Motors.
Ms Shabnam Siddiqui, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network India said, “the first edition of the awards witnessed outstanding case studies from prestigious organizations with notable contributions to adoption and implementation of innovative and sustainable supply chain practices in their organizations. We congratulate Birla Cellulose, HUL and Ford Motors for their pioneering work done in accelerating circularity and transparency in the supply chains in a short time, which are high priority UN Sustainable Development Goals.” She further added- “Actually all teams are Winners and we take pride in showcasing their outstanding contribution to inspire one and all.
